Every Friday waananga this year (2025) will be at: Manu Tukutuku Community Centre – 32 Riverton Drive, Randwick Park.  Every Saturday waananga this year (2025) will be at Turuki Health Care Manukau at 8 Sharkey Street, Manukau. Please ensure your email address is correct when registering.

Antenatal waananga run several times each year on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00am to 3:30pm. You can book your place below.

Turuki Health Care offers a different, more culturally informed option to traditional antenatal classes.

Instead of several sessions, we run a one-day antenatal waananga focusing on the possibility of natural and whaanau-centred birthing. Waahine attending the waananga are empowered with knowledge and encouraged to take pride and find value in the bringing of new life.

This one day programme supports waahine and their whanau to prepare for labour and birth. Our experienced Maaori midwives will facilitate a waananga with you, your partner and/or whaanau to diminish any barriers to a successful birth. They have been successfully supporting South Auckland women through these waananga since 2008.

Ngaakau Oho

Ngaakau Oho mornings to active the holistic self is a free online movement and meditation workshop. This workshop is in collaboration of traditional Māori healing modalities weaved together to create a space that awakens an awareness to your holistic being. Sessions will consist of Mahi Rākau (staff) , Mahi Tinana (body movement) , Mahi Hā (breath) and a short clearing/re-generising meditation.

You will need a quiet space, a mat, cushion or seat, water and two Rakau: One Rakau with length from the ground to your chin and a short Rakau with length from the tip of your finger to your shoulder.

Participating will foster wellbeing that is attentive to individual and collective experiences of Wairua, Hinengaro, Tinana and Whānau. This workshop will help to facilitate more positive experiences that range from healthier ways to approach daily tasks, to shifting trauma that can block energy in the body thus affecting Hinengaro, Tinana and Wairua. Sessions are open to all who would like to attend and will run for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. If you can't make the 6am live Zoom, you can watch the recordings on the Turuki Health Care YouTube.
